Yoga Therapy for Pelvic & Lower Back Pain (women only)

Who can benefit from Yoga Therapy sessions for pelvic and lower Back Pain?

Everyone’s experience of pelvic and lower back pain is different. Our attitudes, feelings, and beliefs about pain can have an impact on the level of physical pain we experience. During this class we’ll explore some Yoga practices that improve mobility, mood and provide a distraction away from pain. Awareness of breath and breath control can help achieve a calmer, slower respiration and also reduce pain. Relaxation is a great way to counteract the body’s natural tendency to tense up during times of discomfort. With practice it might be possible to “move through” the pain instead of resisting it. Lifestyle advice will also be shared and specific themes explored to support your health and wellbeing.

Small Group Approach

An offering specifically for the unique needs of women. To come together as a small group and explore some relevant themes, and self care routines to cope better during life challenges.

We will take a restorative approach, gently exploring movement and stillness in a kind and nurturing way - to improve self awareness and facilitate opening and release within the body. Postural habits can be explored and improved upon to support alignment and pelvic organ support. Visualisation and relaxation practices can be really helpful in easing discomfort, and managing pain.

Mindfully experiencing and listening to our body, noticing felt sensations, can promote insight. We can also practice these skills in our everyday life, to improve concentration, lift us out of the mundane, and to find inspiration and joy.

A breathing inquiry practice can help us become more aware of our habitual breathing patterns, often our natural breathing rhythm can be disrupted by upsetting emotional experiences. With breath work we can create more freedom, energy and also calm the stress response, encouraging healing and vitality in all systems of the body.

Along with your Yoga mat please have a couple of blankets, and a few pillows or cushions available.

These sessions are taught by Cath Watsham.
